Default [Fireup time?]: Almost done.

Well, there is a big if the weather holds up tomorrow. The afternoon isn't looking good.

Either way, the car is almost completely together now. What might I overlook once I've got all the big things installed?

1. Fill Oil
2. Fill Coolant
3. Fill Overdrive
4. Install O2 Sensor
5. Set timing to 6* BTDC (for now, if it fires ;))
6. Torque crank pulley bolt now that the tranny is on.
7. Look at parts pile for spares

Stick distributor shaft into the oil pump and run the oil pump with a drill so oil fills all the oil passages and maintains all those bearings you replaced.

That's a great idea for a new motor, but Scorp didn't replace any crank, rod, or cam bearings.

TTT!

Scorp, by now you should be INTIMATELY familiar with your car, just go over it with a fine tooth'd comb...check vacuum, check grounds, check hoses, if there's stuff not connected know WHY (like the throttlebody bypass on my car).

When you go to fire it up, get Cyl #1 at TDC on the compression stroke, set the rotor at 6 degrees BTDC with the computer advance disconnected and it'll at least run.

I dumped coolant on the header...smoked like an SOB! And was panicking for a sec until I realized it didn't smell like oil, or insulation, or wireing...

No sweat, you'll get it. Just keep the fire extingusher on hand and watch Voltage and Oil while starting up! (If Voltage is odd, it could be a short, if Oil is odd, well, watch it!)

Id prime it anyways to get oil everywhere before firing.Peace of mind.

Also be sure to prime the fuel rail a few times and check for leaks like 10 times.
Check the fuel line CS plug screw in the rear as well for possible leaks if you havent done this already.
Also be sure battery is charged.
:)

Thanks guys, keep them coming. I did an initial lookover today while I was out there contemplating how to get the rear #8 header bolt. :)

Adjust TPS
Adjust Fuel Pressure w/vacuum line off.

The only electrical connectors left are the MAF, Distributor stuff, and Battery.

I haven't kept very good tabs on "everything" you've done but I think I have a pretty good grip on it. You are going to run a MAF still right? If memory serves that's the plan. It will make things much easier to start with. MAP cars don't react as well to the mods you're doing. I truly hope this project gets you to a point that will keep you happy for at least awhile. You've spent so much time on it (wish I could find that kinda time). I want your car to "kick azz"! I wish I could make it to BG this year so I could "talk you into" putting that baby on the strip. I had a blast there last year. If you need ANYTHING from me let me know. I'll take care of you. After all, you're pretty much the C4 celebrity around here. Wish I had the time to post like u! I learn more from all the folks 'round here then GM could ever dream about teaching me :). Looking forward to hearing good news soon! -Jeff

Got any pictures for us as of now? I don't think that we've seen a pic yet of it as of now, at least not with both hookers installed. Um, timing I guess, but you already have that one.

Turn the key to ignition and watch for fuel leaks before firing it off.

I didn't take shots of that last night, sorry. :(

I got the driveline support beam and driveshaft in today. It started raining so I am off to the store to buy what is hopefully the last batch of stuff. Spark plugs, oil filters, oil, etc.....

Here is how she sits right now in the rain. She came down off the jackstands today. I was actually excited when I had to engage the parking brake for the first time in almost 2 month. She's gotta go up one more time for me to put the catback on.

Not yet. I plan on pulling the driveshaft again to do the u-joints soon for peace of mind. Then it'll go in. :)

I thought ya just did them a short while back? It was your u-joint posts that inspired me to do mine(thanks).
Pray to the god of corvette half shafts and yokes your new torque monster doesn't twist them, since the new u-joints won't be the weak-link in the chain IMHO. I'll look forward to see of your results.

I only did the halfshafts, never did the driveshaft. I've already got 3 spare halfshafts & u-joints lined up for "when" it happens. :)

Hey Scorp, what heads did you use? Or didn't you get any? And was the installation of the Superam easy or rather difficult? She looks great even on jacks, but one more thing: What to name this new beauty. Make a separate topic for her name!!!
