Default PCMforless Adapter to ECM?

I got my chip from pcmforless for my '88 and I took the little cover thats held on with two 1/4 bolts off and tried to get it to fit, now I unclipped the blue piece that was in the stock ecm and the pcmforless one plugs right in its place but is this rest of the adapter supposed to just hang out or?

Usually the stock memcal is attached to the side of the adapter holding the new chip.
requires opening the ECM case to fit inside

From there is it the blue part that plugs into the ecm? What exactly do you mean by opening the ecm case? Do you mean leaving the little window part off or?

did you read the instructions I linked?
Cover will only fit if you have a low profile socket.
I don't know what style PCM4less use on their adapters

The instructions show fitting the adapter and stock memcal through the access hole,
I have always found it easier to open the ECM up to fit it;ie take the case apart

Default adapter

You can fit the adapter and chip in the access port but you will have to remove the blue cover on the stock memcal chip.

I like my conversion better. you desolder the eprom... Solder in a zif socket.. and use a faster eeprom
Much easier to remove

Not bad $$ for supporting a car over 25 years old.

I believe after you buy all the equipment if you change the car and need another tune to update for the changes its only $50 or something like that. The most expensive part is the initial purchase.
