I may well have read it backwards, I thought he said it was running fine UNTIL it hit 140, certainly my bad.
FWIW, however, speed density systems do in fact GUESS or they wouldn't need the O2 sensor feedback now would they? It may be a very educated guess, but it is still a guess just the same. Likewise MAF input is an even more educated guess but it is still a guess or again, why the O2 feedback? What you call an algorithm, I call a guess. To each their own I guess.
You may be right about the MAF input in open loop, my tuning experience is limited to speed density, I was just going off of what I had been told, which was apparently wrong. Sorry for the mis-information.
One thing we can agree on, a scan tool / data log will tell the true story.
yikes.. 219 bucks for that data master scan stuff. well, i will def. keep looking for a scanner. putting it on hold for a couple days, trying to work in a deal with the dealership to trade in both my cars and get a 2004 z06 with only 22k for real cheap. boy, i hope it happens.
yes, definatley not thinking about tuning it right now, just whenever its fixed, if i still have it. is there any other scanner tools you guys would recommend that i could look into?

At the very least, give more incite into what is being feed to the ECM.
Irish, scan tool stuff, check e-bay. Craigslist can be ok, too.
I have a OTC Nemisys that does GM 84-07, with both OBD1 and OBD2 cables. I got it barely used for about 350. It also does All other domestics thru 07. Asian 96-06. The amount of live data is even with OBD1, it does ABS/Air Bag, etc...OBDII is even more data. Can be overwhelming at times.
well, i dont have to worry about this problem anymore!!!! traded it in for a new vette!! its great. c5 zo6!!! Le Mans commemorative. man it sweet. they gave me 6700 for this one, thats over book, and i only paid 6200 when i bought it. so thanks for all the help guys, i did learn alot, so it wasnt wasted.

thanks again!
The C4 is now a problem for some one else. Hahaha...J/K.
Well, good luck with the C5 Z06. I love those Commemoratives, that blue is . They have their own issues so watch out for them.
FYI, don't launch too hard on sticky tires at the drag strip, those stock half shafts can break, fairly easily. Seen lots fail.
Fixed. Disconnected Mass Airflow Sensor and ran great. Checked voltages at connector according to Service Manual and they were good. Replaced MAF and now runs great.
