Dana 36 upgrades
My application:
88 Vette
383 sbc
80-88mm turbo
Looking at 800rwhp...and yes I'll hit that #

I see that Zip has a HD cover and bat wing upgrade, what else is recommended? Modifying the stoppers also?

No matter how we build a Dana 36 for you using the best that technology can currently offer, it is not going to hold behind 800 hp or better yet the amount of torque that 383 is going to make with a 80+mm turbo setup. Add rear support block and a HD cover is not going to going to help the weakness of the actual housing. With money not being an issue, we could machine a new housing out of billet and go from there, but your best bet if you don't want to replace a broken diff is to go with our new HD Dana44. It is going to be about the same money as a stock Dana 44 since you do not have a core, but the new housing is an aftermarket housing that is much stronger than the stock one. Anything other than this I think you are wasting money. You might as well do it right the first time instead of the second time after you spent a couple of grand the first time. Anyone says they can make a D36 live at that HP level might not know what they are doing.

IRS is just not good with high Hp; the angles are all wrong.
Many racers on here after spending much $$$$ on D44 upgrades and repairs
wish they had gone solid earlier instead of trying to keep the IRS alive

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I had built one of these for my C4, which was a highly modified 86 with a ZF 6spd. I had a 355 with a Vortech on it pushing around 700hp. I only put about 1200 miles on the car before I sold it and my Dad also probably put about that on it. Mine were a hard 1200 miles which is why I sold instead of going to jail. It held fine, but the clutch would also slip in 3rd-6th if you really hammered the throttle. I was extrememly traction limited in 1st and 2nd and really 3rd until the tires got really hot. You are in new territory though with 800+ to the wheels. I don't know if it will hold up, it will depend on clutch and traction I guess. The 9inch is a good idea if you want to give up the handeling of the car. If it is going to the drag strip maybe. There are some other things we can do to it to help also. Below is a pic of mine old car.
I will post them tomorrow, for some reason it will not work tonight.
