I would like to get rid of the optispark on my car. I read so many way to do it and i,m still dizzy..Summers comming and i would like to drive the wheels off this car and not worry about the opti breaking.. I need some help in starting off in the right direction??
$399.00 and eight coils and the high voltage part of the Opti is gone. It's the Bailey LTCC. Just a control box and a harness and it works great. I've used it for years with no problems at all.
See...no plug wires down here.
They're up here where they belong. No problem with headers burning anything.

nice setup. Where did you get the Billet Opti Cap from?

The Opti cap was made for an Impala club member. It's a one off. I've not been able to find another. I've got over two hundred thousand miles on it with no problems. The Mitsubishi sensor is very reliable and I personally think that all that high voltage ozone type stuff may be a part of the reliability problem. That's just a guess. Either that or the 40,000 volts (or whatever) getting mixed up with the 5 volt computer stuff on the optical sensor. I just ordered another LTCC to put on another engine.
I was apprehensive at first and a while back went so far as to order another control box to keep as a spare. I never needed it but now I just had to order the harness to have a complete system.
The bonus with this set-up is that it's also an adjustable soft touch rev limiter and it has selectable NOS timing retard features built in also.
I have the ltcc and have had to replace the circuit board in it ,and not a lot of miles so don't get it wet at all.
Bob bailey did replce it for free, but it left me stranded several times,no problems since.
That's why I got a spare from Bob to use in my other car. I go on a trip I just pull the box for a spare. Luckily I've never needed it. When yours leaked did you have the O-ring in the case lid? I do install mine in a dry location so water can't get to it.
my car has 150000 miles on it and it has the stock opti, I am replaceing it since I am doing the water pump, but seriously, son't flood the front of the engine and the opti seems to be a happy camper......

I would like to know a bit more about this conversion. My optispark just began to show signs of failure. i have owned the car since May 2012 and read all about the optispark prior to purchasing and still bought it. I like working on cars so the repair/replacement seems easy just time consuming; however, getting rid of problem for good sounds very intriguing.
Now i have to find a opti option. Drove to the track 2 hours no problem on the way back home about 1 hour on the road and for 2 minutes the car ran like it had a rev limiter set at 1400rpm missing then it was ok. I do have a msd box on the car, it was on it when i bought it. Any one have a problem like this. I'm thinking of pull the msd off and see what happen??.
