Hi everyone. Just got a 93 black coupe. I knew about some issues with the car when I bought it. I'm looking forward to learning about these cars with the forum's help and sharing what I learned about lt1 engines from my previous car, 95 camaro z28. The issues I have are: the cruise control and wipers don' t work. All fuses and connections seem good, so I am assuming it must be the turn signal lever that has the switches in it. The other issue is with the speedometer. It lights up, but displays 0 mph for about 10-15 minutes before it starts working. When its not working, the odometer doesn't work either. When it starts working the odometer doesn't catch up on any miles driven. Could this possibly be a speedometer signal generator? Thanks in advance for any help. John Reister in Brandon, MS.

On my 1992 the cruise did not work. There was a hole in the vacuum line going to the cruise control assembly, near the battery. Check for vacuum there.

Check the vacuum to the servo by the battery. Then the other line off the servo goes to the brake/clutch switches, and if does not hold vacuum the cruise releases. Most frequently though it is the electrical switch on the brake pedal. Check power to the wiper motor, again a frequent failure is the circuit board in the wiper motor cover. Then there is a VSS sender for the speedo on the driver's side tailshaft of the trans, check for a loose connection. Hope this helps and congrats on your new ride.

Default Thanks Everyone!!!

Thanks everyone for the welcome, and the suggestions for my problems. I work retail (at Lowe's) and my next day off is Wednesday. I'm going to start on the fixes. I just got the 2 volume factory service manuals off eBay for $78 and hope they get here by Wednesday. So far I love the car, always wanted a vette. Got a good deal on this car, knowing I had some work to do on it. The first thing I fixed (using search on this site) was the asr/abs service lights that were coming on. Took a little brake fluid and some rubber caps on the master cylinder and it was fixed. Ordered some stuff from Corvette Central to fix some minor interior issues and I should be done for now. Thanks again!! John.

Ditto on the CC vacuum line. Mine was split where it stretches over the nipple closest to the firewall. Clipped it off, reconnected, and viola!
