Default 93 wiper fix

A mechanic friend suggested a way to fix my wipers. They were not working at all. I took a length of 14 guage stranded wire, and put some crimped-on ring connectors on each end. I took one of the screws off of the wiper motor plastic cover and put one end of the wire on the screw and reattached it to the wiper motor cover. I ran the wire across the engine compartment to underneath the battery. The metal frame already had some holes in it, so I used the smallest hole. I sanded the paint off around the hole and screwed the other end of the wire to the frame and this established a new ground which fixed the problem. It was a simple fix that just cost a few dollars. Just thought I'd share this fix, as I didn't see this solution to the wiper problem. We'll see how this holds up before the wiper motor needs replacing. Now on to the next project ... weatherstrips. John.

That would require thinking and simple diagnostic skills...not to mention make sense. Why fix it right when we can "hack" it.

My buddies 94 had all kinds of "hacked" repairs, when he bought it. They only caused problems, which I fixed, correctly.

Any kind of weather will corrode your connections in a short while. They are not sealed anywhere near as well as factory wiring harnesses. If you want a lasting solution, find the problem and fix it correctly.

It pains me to see how many folks on this forum, cannot take the time to repair their Corvette in a proper manner. These cars deserve better. Lots us are more than willing to help, just ask and learn, then do.

I hear you both. I bought the fsm on eBay, and as soon as it arrives I'll find the grounding point and try to do a proper fix. Don' t want to set off on the wrong foot on here, thanks for your concern.

Yeah, some of us have learned the hard way, others witnessed the long term effects, others just know. Better to fix it right and be done rather than visit it again. Your car will thank you with increased durability and reliability. Best of luck with your Corvette.
