This is saddening to hear. The exact same thing happened to me and several other forum members many years ago, and like your experience it was a fellow forum member who screwed us. My $ 8K motor was very close to being ruined by excessive fuel washing out the new cylinders as were others. Additionally, several other guys had a myriad of problems that ranged from excessive spark knock to near impossible idle characteristics. This thief (I can't think of any other way to describe it) is still active trying to sell things from time to time!
I can sympathize with your frustration and I thank you for bringing a very important issue to light. Obviously, the best thing would be to learn how to tune yourself (if a dinosaur like me can do it, I'd think everybody can); but I can sure see why it might be seen as black magic by a lot of people.
Right with ya here, been through the same thing with the same person. Thanks for posting this up and giving everyone else a forewarning. I hope you get your money back. . . . that would just be wrong. . . .
Live and learn as you mentioned. I learned the same lesson. Next time(if there is a next time) i wont be paying full up front for something like this. Give a person more incentive to finish the job.
GL and congrats on the new 383! Hope you can start enjoying it now that you are finally getting to tuning
I had a similar thing happen when I had my 300hp Spirit Turbo. I got a bad tune that washed down the rings, thinned out the oil and ate my brand new $1000 Turbonetics turbo. I had to re-do the rings and bearings and send the turbo back for a rebuild. The tuner basically told me to pound sand.
I don't understand how these people stay in business.
names of ripoffs and low quality work get posted on here all the time, I haven't seen you much , but the others posting on this thread are well respected. If the same member got all of you , you would be doing the rest of us a favor
Hate to say it but I have a feeling we are dealing with the same person. I got a few tunes and then - nothing. I always try to give most folks the benefit of the doubt, but I've given up.
If nothing else - it gave me reason to start doing the tune myself.
thieve?, got screwed?, fair warning ? ....REALLY junior?
I think not it WAS YOU who had YOUR car being painted for monthes on end and other countless revisons. You were refunded appropriately. Yes 50. for a base bin file is cheap considering what is actually in a base tune for a modded car. You wouldn't undrstand that since you have no understanding of what is actually in a file/tune.
Furthermore, if you can't comprehend that my father passed away, which I'm sure others told you and my mother not doing well, ALL of my outside activities of mine were put on hold...almost everyone aside from you and one other could understand. You seem to feel that when you finally had it together someone should jump...well sorry pal it doesn't work that way. You knew from the start this is a HOOBY for me and not a job.
HOWEVER, I won't waste time mincing words or debating any of this. If you want to continue in this fashion, we can certainly handle this off the forum...just tell me where.
I just read thru this post, seems a little odd to me.
Mick has just finished a tune for me, and it is exactly what I wanted! Could not have asked for a more positive experience. The man went out of his way to please me. And his price was more than fair.

Same here Joel...we are (currently) on bin11 for mine...
The Bosch3's have been a real pain in the neck, but this tune is far better than the one I got from Jeremy Formato when I first put the motor in 10+ years ago.
It spins the tires in 1st, 2nd & 3rd when I hit the sweet spot in the torque curve now...and pulls hard to red line.
Mick has been through the wringer the last few months...and this is a HOBBY, not his job. He actually has a real day job to do, and tunes on the weekends. I send him the DataMaster data captures, I get a bin file on Sunday night or Monday morning every week like clockwork.
If you want it done faster...find someone else.
If you want it done RIGHT? Just be patient and you'll get it.
