EGR Help please.
Here we have the unsleeved 1987 EGR Tube.

Notice the new damn sleeve I bought from Ecklers isn't long enough.

Notice there is only a flange on one end, and not on the other. '87 uses a clamp on the other end to attach it to the manifold.
Here we have a Hooker 2149 passenger side header. Notice the mounting for the EGR.
Now.... I know that 88 Vettes use the double-flange method, as Fastguy's 88 has it (I looked). What does 86 use?
It looks like I need to get myself a 88+ EGR tube at the tune of $88 or so dollars. Yippeeeeee!
So... what happens if I do this.
1. Put a blockoff plate on both the intake & header. Disconnect the EGR solenoid.
2. Put a blockoff plate on the header, leave the EGR tube hanging in the engine bay connected to the intake. Leave solenoid plugged in. (Lean condition from fresh air vacuum leak?)

I still have my old EGR tube and it's in tact except that the Al foil is mostly gone from the insulation. If it ifts, you are welcome to use it till you feel you want to spring for a new one. From earlier shots or your top end it looks like it might fit; you'd need two more Torx bolts as I don't have any spares of that size.
Where in MA are you, close to Boston?
Also the shiny Al surface of the wrap is kinda pretty.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The '88-'89 Pipe, EGR Vlv part # 10055728 is $40.87 at GMPartsetc...
This may be a stupid question, but do you need the EGR? The way it was told to me or at least the way that I understood it, the EGR was just an emissions device .
Thanks in advance.
