Jim, I'm excited for sure, even though its a while off,

I picked it up tonight, I need to bag it and grease it.

Tony Mamo relied to an email saying, use AFR 235cc so you were right on Jim.

I picked up a 91 black/red coupe with the 412 small block in it that fastlife had advertised here on the forum not long ago. He said the clutch was slipping at highway speeds in upper gears, I got the car and clutch pedal grabs about 1" from the top of its travel and its obviously something going on with this set up, slipping so bad that you can let the clutch out fully with a few rpms and it sounds like an automatic.

Pedal has a small amount of play all the way at the top so that's telling me the rod is returning.

I'm thinking the disc is cooked and as it wore, it brought the clutch fingers tighter and tighter towards the hydraulic TO bearing, eventually actually riding the fingers causing a diminished clamp from the pp making it slip.

Entire Ram Clutch set up including a Ram Flywheel custom made for the 400 sb is said to be not very old including the hydraulic TO bearing.

That sound about right to you? Have not pulled it apart yet was hoping maybe you could point me in the right direction with a fix before I tear into it....I think I've answered my own question but would like to hear your opinion.

Thanks,
Gibby
Is this for a ZF?, it could be lots of things, but when the pedal gabs high, your disc could be thin, the PP worn etc, no way to know definitively without pulling it out.

A high pedal is usually a worn disc.

Thanks Larry, I'll let you know what I find when I dissect it.. It is a black tag ZF in the car.

Good luck with your new bullit, theres no substitute for cubic inches...

Wow. 421 is the magic number on these big cube strokers it seems. Just didn't want to fall into that nostalgia trap of a 427 eh?

Looking forward to your build. Can't you fast forward it and do it in a month or two?

Most likely a single plane. It will give me a chance to make an elbow to work with the SC. I might make is specifically deigned to be fed directly by the SC if it makes sense, too early to tell now.

I'm looking up the steep money hill trying to figure out out to climb it

The Stealth Ram will go up for sale next winter/spring, along with the forged rotating assy I have, oil pan, cam, AFR heads etc,,,

not much can be used.

I'm having second thoughts / cold feet etc..

The more I read, the more I want a 572 CI BBC or bigger NA

Dyno Details 572
Chevrolet has a long tradition of underrating the power output of its big-block creations (435 hp for the L88?), and it's nice to know that some things never change, as demonstrated when Westech had occasion to dyno a bone-stock GMPP ZZ572/620 crate engine.

Nice looking block. Love the main caps! Has a little LS flavor to it, doesn't it?

I would want new heads, I have the old style AFR's which did not flow worth kr@p, even after porting.

This will be an all new engine, clean sheet of paper, whatever direction I go. Out with the old!

It would be nice to stick with a SBC if possible, but I don't want anything less than 650HP, Maaaybe 625hp, however it happens, except No,,,Zero,,,Nada, NOS.
