Well while trying to test and brake the new solid rearend last year autocrossing I broke something in the motor. I finally pulled the motor out last week to start fixing it. It looks like the #4 intake valve broke off which then broke both valve seats taking out the exhaust valve head then continued thru the motor bending two rods and many valves then put dents on every piston. Sent the allpro heads off to see if they can be welded back up and fixed. Race season is almost here so im getting a late start on the repairs.
sorry,,,but thats racing,, i drag raced for a lot of years,i always had one in the car ,one built ready to go and a slew of parts just waiting there turn. then i got smart. I QUIT!
This is the 4th motor Ive blown up in the last 12 years racing this car. I go all out when I'm playing. This is the first time that I'm rebuilding a engine and not trying to thing of a way to make it faster. This thing has plenty of power for me I just want to get it back together
Hey Tim, sorry to hear about the damage. I have seen some aluminum heads damaged pretty bad welded up and re machined that turned out good as new. Hopefully the heads are reusable.
I think it got hurt on the run before that one. I was getting a lot of blowby after the run before that one but I wanted to finish the day out and still had plenty off power. Should have know better but that's racing.
