Default 160 thermostat in a 96 question

I assume I can install a 160 degree thermostat and run a lot cooler at speed ... but unlike an earlier C4, I understand that other than installing a manual switch to the fan relay's ground, my computer isn't easily (as in low cost) reprogrammable? Is that all correct? Thanks. Cire96
P.S.

You would need a Hypertech Power Programmer to reprogram your ECM to make your fans come on sooner. Theyre usually $300.

You are correct on both counts...

However, you can try http://www.pcmforless.com

He can make these changes for a reasonable sum (plus other changes you may want done). I haven't used him but a bunch of guys on the CamaroSS board have.

Considerable difference with 160 stat and reset fans. Also used programmer to reset speedometer after gear change so I feel I got my $$ worth.
