Just inherited a 1984 C4 Corvette from a friend of mine, however, the car had been parked in his garage for several years. I am now attempting to turn it on and am not getting any fuel to the injectors. If I spray some starter fluid in the cavities I can get it to run for a few seconds and then it turns off. Any ideas?
Fuel pump has failed (very easy fix) Fuel filter is clogged.
Gas has turned to kerosene or worse gummed up....
Lift the fuel filler door on the back, and start removing hardware until you can pull the fuel pump out.....it lifts up straight and a 10mm will do....
if the injectors do not have adequate fuel pressure they won't fire.
Also, in the future, you'll get faster replies if the title of your thread reflects your question. using "C4" as the title tells other forum viewers nothing about whether or not it's worth their time to click on your thread. A better option would have been "1984 not getting fuel to injectors", for example.
Being that I'm a first time Corvette owner I will get better on the use of the forum to best describe what issues I am having on future post but I do appreciate all the inputs from all. Thanks and I will start with the fuel pump and fuel filter.
My '84 sat for a few years. I flushed the fuel system, replaced the fuel pump and filter. Still would not start. I had to tap the injectors with a screwdriver handle. Fired right up after that. Runs great to this day.
