The smiles should come shortly! Going from what appear to be 2:59's to 3:54's. Can't wait. Total bill about $900 with professional install, install kit, and synthetic gear lube.

One word explains the difference between 2.59s and 3.54s... Wow!!! I finally got them broken in and a full four wheel alignment done and this vette smokes! I kid you not - you're gonna love 'em! I could just get a small squeak from a dead stop before and now I'm fishtailing all over the place when I nail it! :D The only thing I would caution against is the synthetic diff fluid. The instructions for my Zip diff specifically say to not put synthetic fluid in the diff. As a matter of fact, you have to put in some special anti-chatter fluid in with the GM diff fluid. Have fun! :)
I have 3.07's and I'm thinking of 3.54 or 3.73's. I'm leaning more towards the 3.54's Let us know how your midrange feels too!! :yesnod:
It's a whole different beast with 3.54s - the LT1 loves the deeper gear. I can launch from 65mph a heckuva lot faster than with the 2.59s, that's for sure! The only drawback is turning 2200 RPMs at 65mph... I've heard from several people that the 3.54 gear is a bit stronger than the 3.73 due to clearance in the diff case itself. There are some members that will tell you they've had 100+ runs on 3.73s with no problem (John), but I played it safe - the 3.54s will still make you feel like you got a different car! :)
They make the vette so much more fun to drive. It is so much more responsive. I dont mean to start a argument, but I have at least 10-15 time slips with 1.93 1.94 60 ft. times with the stock converter and street tires. I dont believe there are to many stock L98 going to bet me at the traffic lights. ;) Its just that the LT1 really comes alive with the gears!!
