Default Replacement engine for Bad LT4 Help

Found out today my LT4 block cannot be rebuilt. Went to two difference machine shops and was told there is too much damage to the mains due to spun bearings, cannot be line bored.

I am looking for suggestions for a short or long block that would bolt into my 96 easily. I can have my LT4 heads rebuilt for a shortblock, whichever is best. I am open to a mild 383 with something like a LT4 Hot Cam since I will likely have to have it tuned now anyway.

I hope to spend $3000, but could spend up to $4K if I had to. Anyone got any suggestions for what I should do?

You may be hard pressed to build a stroker for that, at least not with top shelf parts. Seems like every time I've looked it comes in way more than that. I suppose you could do a cast crank 383, but then you wouldn't really wanna push it too hard.

You could probably make more power if you spent the money on a hell yeah port job on those heads and just built a reasonable 350. You could probably find a healthy enough LT1 block floating around cheap enough.

Just my $.02

I love the Hot Cam, but you may find it a little on the small side if you go with a 383.

Where do you live? I have a Camaro block in the shed I could let go for cheap if you are in the ATL area

Camaro block a good option
Stud the 2 bolt run a Scat 9000 crank it will handle plenty unless youre turning a bunch of rpm. Same with thier I beam rods.
Toss those PM rods in the trash where they belong

Only real cost difference is some block clearancing these days parts are about the same. Noone complains about lack of cubes!
