1. My 95 Lt1 vette will make a "click" noise and not start up. sometimes if i turn on the Acc. first (and let the gauge popup and let the DIC lights disappear) then start it, it will crank up. I wanted to know if this is supposed to be the process of starting the car or if it needs a new starter (was told) or something.
and 2. I read on another post that the avg. coolant temp should be around 220-230 warm. is this true? because last week it was around 85 degrees outside, and my vette stayed around 215-230 and the coolant needle was very close to the hashmark (also should is that normal?)
You might want to check connections going to the starter before replacing it.
Have you ever cleaned out the rad? See if there is blockage at the rad and in front of the ac condenser. If there is it will limit air flow and inhibit cooling.

Sounds like you could have a starter going. I would check battery cable connections first make sure they are clean and tight. Is it a louder click (thunk) like the starter solenoid kicking in?
Is that running down the road or in town?
If that is running down the road, start looking at cleaning the junk out of the radiator/condenser assy.
My 93 with clean rad/condenser, new coolant mixed with distilled water, stock Stant 180 t-stat running down the road today (about 70 outside or so) I run about 190-195. In town it does creep up until primary fan kicks in at 228.
