In general, the sprung hub will be a little quieter and perhaps smoother on the street. In a ZF6 application, the dual mass flywheel allows for the use of a solid hub disc, since the dual mass is absorbing the vibrations and noise. When using a solid flywheel in front of a ZF6, a spring hub disc is suggested to help with that increase in noise/vibration due to the loss of the dual mass flywheel.
They can be used and I have before, I liked the feel better than a sprung hub but you can twist the splines off the input shaft a lil easier. Ask how I know.. LOL
The previous owner of my 2gen camaro installed solid hub clutch to it because the solid hub supposed to be "race". It was 100% PITA. I have driven cars with multi disc clutches, sprung sinter clutches, kevlar clutches you name it. But personally I totally HATE solid hub clutches in street car. You have zero advantage of using them and the amount of chattering and increased wear is just pita.
