Default Rear Knuckles interchangeable from 96 to 85?

People with rear suspension knowledge, can you answer a question or two.

Are the Rear Knuckles interchangeable from 96 to 85?

I assume it changes the wheel offset?

Do the Rear Brakes interchange?

Any other issue you ran into?

i think you're right, they are different with the offset. 84-87 are different from 88-96. i wouldn't think the brakes are interchangeable since there is a different parking brake mechanism and caliper mounting bracket.

My "thought" is to make the swap in order to get the newer non-angled shock stud mount location (parallel) from the 96 knuckle.

I am making a new lower rear mount that will be easily re-produceble, this weekend I finally came up with 2 solid ways to make a new lower mount that will give me the clearance I need for the 2.5" QA1 Coil spring and still use the existing bolt hole and nut etc.

I will post some pics in a week or two, I am getting the parts together right now.

They interchange fine and give the revised shock angle you want but knuckles are different
The mating face is further out than on the early one because late style has a thicker caliper bracket
( as well as a longer outer yoke ) to give the extra width
Early on left

Some have played mix and match on the brakes .COPO made some adapters

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/1570869320-post20.html

to run the late brakes on the early knuckles so as to use the narrower track for larger rims
so maybe the reverse is possible ?

So it would seem that you would be required to use "assembled" 88+ knuckles and brakes? Change to later 56mm offset wheels? Yes?

You might be able to use the 88+ and retain the same track with the "Big Doggie" mod.

How about the fronts?

I ask because I want to get new wheels next spring and I think the later C4's have better wheel offset variety
