I have taken a hit in the life department...
had to rebuild my engine again...
Flywheel weight sheered off and cracked block, repaired...
Offshore job went dry...
Temporary job...
Working side jobs to make ends meet...
ZF locked up last weekend...
Starting new permanent job next week...
I have pretty much lost contact with the other partner in this venture, which is my fault. But until I get my head screwed on straight again, this is on the back burner.

Wow! I'm glad you are back on your feet again. What is the new job?
Can't remember if i've asked this one, but what would it take to combine the EFI connections 24x sensor kit and the LTCC coil per cylinder kit? Can you convert the 24x signal to what the LT-1 computer can read? I've emailed bob at LTCC and he said the software in the LTCC can be rewritten. Didn't go any further with him than that yet. Just asked if the system is reprogrammable.
Granted it wouldn't be cheap, but would be nice to ditch the Opti completely yet not have to switch to an LS computer and lose ABS (only real feature I'm worried about though).
I ditched the LT in favor of the LS motor and plan to keep the LT computer for the car functions. The LS is a 3 wire connect to run I got the harness from SpearTech in Anderson IN.
wow am I behind the times. The information here is great.
So I was thinking about your talk of the opti-spark. Seems you have that figured out so you do not have to update to coils etc. Avoiding a significant amount of pain. Have you thought of making this a kit for the camaro people? I bet there are some who would love the ls ecm without having to buy the coils, harness, blah blah. Your kit could just be the plug in to the opti spark for the correct signals and a good DIY to rewire the harness for the new ECM. Obviously us vette heads would still have cluster issues etc, but those 2 bolt main freaks in their camaros could run wild. There would be some cash flow and motivation for the real task at hand.
The whole ccm gcm issue is fairly daunting it seems. I'm going to show my ignorance in a second but.... Not only do you have two different languages but two speeds. Have you gotten them translated from one to the other? With that baseline established you are in a good spot. There is not a lot you can do about the speed it seems. Other than hope that the 10k baud does not overload the 8k baud and the 8k baud could respond quickly enough. If this is too far into the deep end have you thought of outsourcing this? I am sure you could send it to a firm and they would get it turned around. Maybe some revenues from the kit in the first paragraph would help that out.
Either way I hope you are still plugging along on this! My dream would be to rewire the ecu, plug in your opti kit to keep it, and plug in your ccm gcm conversion module and rock out with a new tune for my iron Lt1. Would really help the rebuild in my future.
come to think of it that first kit to keep the opti would be useful for us vette heads as well. We could run that and run a dual ecm (c4 and c5). One for the engine and one for the car body to keep both happy (gauges etc). Sell the kit, a harness, and a diy write up. This would get you some additional revenue to tackle problem #2, the one ecm complete solution.
We could install step one and basically have everything except the module when the 1 ecm solution came online

Did you get this working? Do you have both PCMs running simultaneously and the car electronics all function?
Theres new hope around the corner. There ia a Canadian company (Idont know if you can post non sponsors names here) supposedly coming out with a plug and play kit using the LS1 PCM that gets rid of the Opti by the end of May early June.
They claim to have solved the communication issues and a seamless integration. there is a video demonstrating the system in a C4.

Search for 24x conversion or 24x link
That's what got me interested. I'm trying to figure a way to use some of Torqhead's parts and sourcing the common stuff locally. It'll be 2 grand when they get it sorted. I saw this system at the machine shop mounted on a Camaro engine.
So my interest is in trying to replace the ignition module on the LT5. However, it uses a 9 slot reluctor wheel in middle of the crank. Would need to probably mount a crank sensor and wheel on crank nose.

Pardon my ignorance. Is the ignition module a weak point of the ZR1?
I'm looking to get my car so someone will tune it properly......the LS PCM. Whether that's gonna be worth $2000, don't know about that. I already have two arm's and a leg in this car over the 15 or so years of ownership. It's only money, I guess.
