spc adjustable arms streetable?

Default spc adjustable arms streetable?

I'm interested in the spc arms but the summit website says not for the street.

What exactly makes them not street friendly?

Based on my own control arm design, I would assume they added that to protect themselves. They probably chose not to test them for pothole impacts or hitting a curb and cannot guarantee they will not bend or brake. Im sure they will be just fine, and actually ride better than the OEM arms. Just don't hit anything.

though i agree that not hitting curbs and potholes is a good policy, are you suggesting that the spc arm might be or are weaker than oem?

Most likely they are just as strong. Since they are marketed as race arms they are probably just covering their butt by adding the statement "not for street use". I dont see any reason why they would be weaker, or not OK on the street.

I would think that they don't want any "product liability" issues and their attorneys have most likely told them that is one way to cover their butts. Could also be that it may be a matter of not testing the arms so they wouldn't know if they met any OEM/GM design spec.

It looks like the SPC upper arms are steel and they could be stronger than the stock C4 cast aluminum upper control arms. Steel may be stronger but with the turnbuckle-style adjustability, that may be an issue in overall strength.

A friend has the SPC arms on his 84 and at a track day a couple years ago he hit a tire wall and bent one of them. Speed wasn't very high (60-70 maybe) but it was a glancing blow and the front corner of the car was the first thing to hit the wall.

Great product

I'm running -2.5 camber on the front with plenty of room to spare

Summit shows greasable and nongrease (the ones without a zirk are 50$ more?!) what ones do you have? Wich should we get for a street/DE car?

They are "streetable". I have the ones without bushings and they are great no poly bushing squeaking sounds SPC also sells a set with bushings. All for sale at Summit Racing

Not that bad, what do you think new A-arms cost?
With these you can adjust camber and caster to get it exactly where you want it.

I want a set of these soooooo bad, just can't aford the points in my race class. I'd have to go to a less sticky tire
