Can't Pinpoint Overheating Problem
Have some facts first -
The water pump impeller and motor are separated. There isn't a significant heat transfer between the two. Even less so should there be no/low coolant. Yes, motor windings can burn out and fail but that's a risk we accept with these pumps for the gain. They're known to last upwards of 50k miles.
Finally, it's not wired on the same circuit as anything else. There is no additional load on any circuit other than the tiniest draw for the coil on the relay. It is wired, as anyone with an e-pump would, on its own circuit with its own fuse.
E pump benefits:
-Less parasitic draw than conventional
-More flow at low rpm
-Can be wired to a switch to cool the motor even with motor off
-eliminates the possibility of leaking coolant onto the Opti
Guess Chevy didn't think of those things. But, by your logic none of us should mod our cars.
