94 Optispark install issues. :(

94 Optispark install issues. :(
1994 Auto - Trying to replace the optispark and i have almost everything back together but the serpentine belt is removed and so is the alternator.
Went to start it up as a test and it seems to idle OK but when you touch the throttle it misses, fires inside the intake and stalls out. As if the timing is way off. I've checked and recheck the wires and i have them on correctly. I have someone over here now checking the wires to make sure I'm not going crazy.
Other thought is the optispark itself. This is my 5th or 6th opti install and my first time having issues. I did NOT force the optispark on and it did take me a while to get it lined up correctly and when I did. It slid right into the cam.
Could the opti itself be bad? Anything else I should check before I remove the opti?
optispark is the AC Delco brand...

Where did you purchase the opti? Sounds like you could have a lemon right out of the box.
Check to see if you knocked a sensor lose. I know my motor acted up after an opti instal because the sensor in the front of the water pump had a bad contact. Stumbled with a back fire.
Take a look, could be a bad wire into the sensor

Not sure where the opti came from. The car isn't mine. Belongs to a club member....
I'm going to check the wires but otherwise I'll have to remove the opti. All I changed was the opti, wires, and coil... I tried another coil too and no change.
I'll also check the sensor/sender connections.
It sounds like the timing is way off.
