I agree have had the same problem with my 89 and I wear a size 12. I wear wrestling shoes when autocrossing it helps alot.
I can tell you how to fix the problem. My Corvette had the same issue. I have a size 15... purchase a pair of New Balance Sneakers... the traditional black ones. Not only are they comfortable, the way they curve, they give you room between the clutch-brake-gas...
