Default code 32

Driving around town no problems but when on the freeway doing steady 60 to 75 mpg after about 13 miles service engine light comes on. Had code checked out and it came up 32. cleaned passages and put new EGR Valve on. The problem didn't go away. The car runs great. What do I due next to fix the problem? If I ignor this will it damage anything? Thank you for any info you can give.

Usually its the EGR solenoid or a vacuum leak, be sure to tighten your gas cap until it clicks. Mine does the same thing on hot days on the highway.

Its not somthin to be overly worried about.

If you have headers or a cat back or some type of free flowing exhaust, you can get a code 32 also.

I just installed the MAD dual exhaust system on my 91-L98 and had the same thing happen to me. Set code 32 after driving on the highway. What can be done to stop/fix this? Anybody?

Do you have a stock exhaust system?

I had a code 32 and replaced the egr valve, egr control solenoid and all of the vaccum lines on the car. I also replaced the intake gaskets and plenum and runner gaskets. I still get a code 32 when driving on highways. It's probably from my exhaust mods, but it just pisses me off.

My car set a code 32 when I first got it but only after driving on the highway for 20 minutes. It ended up being the little switch on the EGR tube, about $7 at the dealer. I added headers and duals and it set the code once but never again.

I was getting a 32 code when I first bought my 86. Drove it for a month and it went away on it's own. Not saying this will happen with yours, but I think my driving habit and the previous owners driving habit was not the same and Im guessing the computer had to relearn or something. Just a guess....

I had the same problem with my 89, my EGR temp switch was resting on the manifold and was melted. I did the same fix as Fastguy and the 32 never came back. :yesnod: , now the 33 on the other hand...is still a mystery! :cry

Fastguy and VetBoy89 have the best answer. The EGR Temp Switch is the most common cause for Code32. The switch is a temp sensor that sits in egr tube close to the #8 injector (closest to the passenger seat). It has a single black wire that comes out the top and is easily susceptible to breaking at the point where it enters the sensor...and for $7 at the parts store (non-dealer) it is worth a shot. Know what it looks like before you go the the parts store because the guy behind the counter will want to sell you an EGR valve or solenoid!

I agree, . I had a 32 and replaced the EGR temp switch. That solved the problem!

I have a 91. I just looked and I don't see a temp switch in the location you guys are talking about. Do I have one?
