Having trouble getting the clutch to disengage. I drove the car over to a friend's garage to replace the backup switch. Removed the slave cylinder to replace the switch. Finished the work and found that the clutch won't disengage. I have replaced both the slave and master cylinder thinking that they when bad. PS both where a year old with about 2000 miles on them. Have blend the system many many times. Can't get any pressure. Pedal goes to the floor. See small bubbles in the master cylinder. Can't get rid of. Don't see any leaks in the tube linking the slave and master. Read the Chevy shop manual for clues. No help.
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be.
It drove over there fine, now nothing. Driving me crazy.
Thanks Tim

Reason: missing word
You have air still in the slave cylinder. You have to fill the slave with a syringe or something like that, the replace the hose never allowing air to get back into the slave.
Then before you get the slave back on......bleed it with it just hanging.....BUT beware!!! What happens is the slave rod will travel all the way to the end of it's throw.....and then your pedal will get hard when you have all the air out....but if you push too hard at this point, you'll shoot the rod right out the end of the slave and life will be bad. So push lightly while you are bleeding
Then mount the slave back on....you should have some pedal now.....the thing is self bleeding as well....over time it will get better as the bubbles travel up the tube and out the Master when used.

Had to remove the slave to get at the backup switch. Did everything you described. Replaced the cylinders one at a time, thinking that one of the components failed.

I wonder if the end of the slave pushrod isn't on the depression in the clutch fork. That would cause exactly what you are describing.
Removed it many times thinking the same thing. Wish I could see in there when system is assemblied. Really don't want to bend the dust plate back on the tranny to see in there.

Have another question about a cause for not being able to pressurize the system. Could I have a leak in the hydraulic line between the master and the slave? I do not see any leaks on the line or any damage. What is your thought?
