The car when it is idling is missing. To try and fix this what is recommended I was thinking just changing the spark plugs to see if that is it because I know spark plugs can cause that.
Also when I get to about 50-60 MPH the car starts to strain like it is not shifting I did not go any higher to see if it would shift or not because I did not want to mess it up, Anyone have any suggestions for that?
Also on the spark plugs what is the BEST spark plug to buy for a 1989 corvette and I want to buy the best ones possible.
Another question my oil temp while I was driving it only said low but I drove it for about 5 miles hoping it would have a temp show up. Would it show up in that amount of time or would I need to drive it more? Because knowing the oil temp is important as I do not want to kill the car.
Thanks.

You could clip a timing light successively onto each plug wire near the spark plug to see if the miss coincides with a missed timing flash.
The oil temp sender is under the car near the oil filter. See if the cable is attached, if so clip a DMM onto the sensor and let the engine warm up to see if resistance changes with engine temp.
Check the plug connections at the distributor and at the plugs.
If the car doesn't feel like it is shifting properly then have someone familiar with transmissions check it out. How is the fluid level in the transmission?

Smell the transmission fluid also to see if it smells burnt. My 89 had the transmission go out a few years ago and only had 30,000 miles on it. From what I researched on this forum it is common for the transmission to go bad. I had it rebuilt with better than stock parts to avoid this happening again.
I turned off the head lights and the parking lights do not go off,I unplug the light switch and they are still on I disconnected to turn them is there a relay doing this and were is it, thanks John
