Default overheating problems crate motor

having problems with overheating on an 1984 corvette with original injection system. Im having problems with the water pump and i need to know which rotation comes originally with the engine and which rotation i need. im running a standard v belt setup with alternator on the passenger side no air pump and no a/c. one belt running from crank around alt and waterpump.

That should be a standard rotation pump.

That's what I was thinking aswell. Which pump would I have to get to retain the old alternator bracket to water pump with a standard rotation. I've been reading that the water pump for the c3 would work and have the standard rotation true ?

If the water pump and the crank pulley spin the same direction, its standard rotation. A C3 pump will be a "short" pump. You'll need to know if you have a short or long pump. If you have a short pump it will be right against the timing cover (you might be able to slip a credit card in between the timing cover and the back of the water pump. If you have a long water pump, you will see a gap that's roughly 1/2" (or a bit less). Then we can figure out which pump you need.

I know the corvette has a short water pump I'm just wondering if the c3 has the standard rotation pump that I'm looking for. Also it doesn't matter whether the pump is long or short style just need the standard rotation preferably with the older style alternator bracket on passenger side

The water pump for an 82 Corvette is the one you are looking for. It'll bolt right up and has the standard rotation since you are no longer running the serpentine belt.
