Default cam imput needed

Hey gurus,
I would like some opinions, on a EDL-2204 cam. I plan on using a SR intake with the setup.
355 engine
10.1 comp
Comp pro Magnum 1.5 rr
Dart 180 Iron Eagles mild porting
flows 250 Int@.500 lift 190 Ex @ .500 lift
Dana 44 with 3.45
700r4 w/ 3000 Lockup stall converter
3" exhaust with magna flow mufflers

I have a LT1 conversion intake with a GM Hot Cam in it now. I also had a GM847 cam in at one time. I got tried of the cam street manners with the LT1 intake.

I want more bottom and midrange. I put the GM847 in my son car, and told him, that he had to replace that cam with another cam, since you can no longer buy that cam new. So , I have a EDL-2204 cam new in the box, I want to try.

Randy have you tried the LPE 219 Cam ? i'm very happy with it
and seems like it's the perfect match for the super ram unless you want
to go more agressive

Dont. That cam is an age old 1970s grind dont think the EFI will like it too much.

In the right car it can run Ok but much much better choices out there.

That Edelbrock cam has too much duration for the range of power you get from a SR.

I would pick something closer to this cam:

http://www.compcams.com/Company/CC/c...?csid=214&sb=2

That will help keep the low/mid range of the SR, but should have a little better power band than the Hot Cam. Also, if your heads peak their flow at .500 lift, than you dont need to go much above that.

Just my thoughts.

With his 1.5rr, a SR cam wouldn't end up much over .500 lift...say 525ish? I don't think that's a bad choice with his free-flowing exhaust. Single-patterns can get you a bit more low-end.

Actually, the 226/226 single pattern from TPIS has the right lift too. l98tpi just installed one on his recently...Thread about it.

I ran that cam in my '92 Camaro with a stealth ram and it made great torque "everywhere" and made power to about 6k (with mildly upgraded L98 heads that don't flow as well as the dart heads listed). It sounds a little lumpy but it is very driveable. I kept the cam and am putting that engine in the Corvette with a mini-ram as soon as I collect the rest of the needed parts (headers, exhaust, clutch, flywheel and a few other things).

That is a real nice SR cam right there it flat out works.

Bet it would run strong with the FIRST intake.

OP look into those. for what the edelbrock costs you get a complete system with throttle body. They blow away any TPI long runner intake on the market, even ported- period. Good stuff.

YIKES 296/300 duration.... Thats a lot of seat timing to only be in the mid 230's@.050.... Those lobes must have been designed 20 yrs ago.

I personally wouldn't recomend my competition run that cam in a lawn mower.

As for getting more bottom end than the GM847 your were running.... the Edelbrock 2204 cam is about the same thing.... it's going to perform similarly.
