Thinking about Carroll's Rod and Racecraft drop in unit.
These units come with a spool and I heard that spools are def not fun in the street.
I have (in the past) limited my trips to drag strip due to breakages and the likelihood of them.
If my engine is right at 500 hp / 500 tq and I plan on spraying a 250 shot, I still want to do the solid rear route, but what other options should I be looking at in regards to the spool?
I very much want to keep this streetable but don't want to continue to break parts as I have in the past.
383vett , bolting on slicks and releasing clutch (McLeod Street Twin) on a 2 step set to probably 4K or so (just guessing), will the spool be a LOT less likely to break than the posi?
All the advantages of the spool, none of the downsides
That being said, make sure the car is pointed straight before you hit the gas (same thing with a spool)
Only bad thing is the Locker's "click" quite a bit when they start ratcheting around a corner, but I would rather hear that than tires chirping with a spool

Posi's are tough. Just have to make sure both tires are wet and to avoid the one legged burnout. That'll kill it quick. I have a spool but my car is a track only car.
