89 head gasket leaking
I just got a 89 with a 130k on it. started getting a low coolent light then temp was going up. I didnt see any water in the oil. how do I tell if it is a head gasket, or a intake leaking. it did smoke white for like a min when I first starting it that day.

Some white smoke on startup is normal as the water that condensed in the exhaust system boils off.
You could just have low coolant. Many times that's caused by a bad radiator cap. You might have air in your cooling system. Start with the easy stuff first.
I have had a bad intake manifold to head gasket (front water passage) and a rusted out head to block gasket (the infamous coolant hole next to cylinder #7).
