Default Tall valve covers for 94 lt1 with afr 195's

Can anyone help me out on this, anyone running this setup? AFR 1039's with 1.6 RRs. The car is a 1994. Is there a valve cover made that will clear both the alternator and wiper motor without mods? If not, what are my best choices of covers to modify? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.

You can modify the stock ones. You'll need to do three things...
- Remove the drip tabs inside the valve covers
- Trim the posts the torx head nuts thread into ~1/16"- 1/8" so that when you tighten them down the valve covers will compress the valve cover gaskets
- clearance the inside of the valve covers to where you see them form the recess for the torx bolts. Be careful not to go all the way through the valve cover when you clearance them.

Mine...
Slight clearance work underneath:

There are no drip tabs on '96 LT1 or LT4 valve covers but they are otherwise identical to what you have. The drip tabs will be self-evident. Easy to snip them off with decent side-cutters.

96GS007 Thanks for the awesome description and pictures on the stock valve cover modification. That's what I may end up doing, but I currently have some aluminum covers that were poorly modified(on the car when I got it), so I figured if I had to buy new ones, I would try and find something a little different than the stock ones. Does anyone have any good/bad experiences with the canton valve covers?

The covers shown here are slightly taller than stock and clear my Crane Gold roller rockers with no problem, they are notched for alternator clearance as well. On stock heads here, so I am not sure about the fit on AFR's, you will need to use the early gaskets, the thin ones used on the composite covers will not work.

Available from Corvette Central, but pricey.

When I did my upgrades and put AFR heads on my 89, I was looking for covers to fit over my roller rockers also. I finally called AFR and found out they had their own valve covers with AFR on them. Told them what I had and they did the rest. Call them!

They fit my AFR 210s fine. I did have to buy shorter bolts though.

I returned the Canton covers. I could not see them sealing well without lots of work.

I too have AFR 195's on my LT4. I went with a different look and chose fabricated perimeter bolt tall valve covers. I used Felpro blue gaskets and they haven't leaked yet. The drivers side needed to be clearanced for the alternator/bracket.

I have the Moroso fabricated - PN 68326 on my 92 with AFR 210's.

The drivers side needs to be cut up to clear the alternator.... also the accessory bracket will need to clearanced a little.

Here is a little diagram I made up with measurements and a depiction of what needs to be done.

Why do you want to trim the posts where the Torx bolts go? With 1.6:1 RR you want to keep the cover as tall as possible no? I have Comp Cams Pro-Magnum Rocker arms. I know it's been a while since the thread, but if anyone has info on this, it will be much appreciated.
