Default throddle slightly sticking

ok, ive got a 94 lt1. just got the engine back together after rebuilding the heads , cam swap and bbk throddle body. just have one last little glitch, the throddle sticks slightly , like it doesnt want to go back all the way to the stop when i take my foot off the gas to shift. at first i figured it was the cable from the acr box, but i adjusted that and put a little more slack in the cable , and that didnt fix it. so i put a small light tension spring on there to give it more pull back tension( i know probably not the correct thing to do, but was a simple fix) and that works for a while, untill ive been driving for 20 minutes or so then it starts sticking again. not really sure where to start here because of the throttle body change , i know the iac may have something to do with it. and i also unbolted the acr box a couple times when i was sliding the headers in there. any ideas on where to start ? oh.... when it does stick , if i jab at the gas peddle it will go back to normal. thanks for any help

If its new, its possible that the butterfly is hanging inside the TB bore. It needs to come off so you can wipe some grease in the bore and see where the butterfly wipes as it opens/closes. Sometimes you can loosen the butterfly screws on the shaft and re-adjust/tighten and its all better..
The cable has a liner that breaks apart after age and some unusual bending. The little plastic sleeve comes apart inside the main cable sleeve and binds. D/C the cable and work it full in/out and LOOK at the liner to see if its cracked or has broken pieces. Lube and reassemble.

I hate to make a public fool of myself, but I had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. I had changed the hood cable and apparently slightly moved the floor mat. While I was trying to figure out the problem I was driving and noticed that I could put the toe of my shoe on the gas pedal and pull up and the RPM went back to normal.

Pulled the floor mat to look at the gas pedal and pushed full throttle and let it return. No sticking.

Hope yours turns out to be this easy.

i wish it was that easy lol . its not the floor mat though.

what puzzles me about this is the fact that after i put that little spring on there it only sticks when its been drivin for a while. could i have put the iac on the new bbk wrong? or does vacuum come into play there?
hopefully one of you guys can help me figure this thing out

Hello, my throttle was sticking on my 92 and what I found that the ASR motor was sticking. The problem was theres a little plastic bumper stop that had cracked and expanded into the pulley where the cables attach. I just sliced a sliver off of it no more sticking

I had the hush panels under the IPC drag on the pedal making it not return correctly. Probly not it but worth a look. I ended up cinching the panel up with a zip tie around the steering column.

I would suppect the throttle blades in the throttle body are dragging on the throttle boby and as the throttle body heats up and expands the drag increases. You should pull off the air inlet and see if the throttle blades are dragging. If they are adjust them to eliminate the drag.

thanks , i'll try that today.. i temperarily fixed the problem by using a stronger return spring although i know its not the right thing to do. but it is working for now.

although now that i think about it... i dont think its a heating issue because without any spring at all it sticks, even when its cold. and when the car is off and i move the throddle blade by hand , it snaps right back. thats why i though its something to do with the vacuum. but i will check it out today to see if the blade is hitting and i also will look into the asr box today to see if anything is binding up in there
