Default Smokin' Brakes

I was on a lonely highway for an hour or so at 75mph speed limit. With no one around, I wanted to see what it was like, so I opened 'er up a bit....but just for about 5 seconds.....I got hard on the brakes to get back below speedlimit and cruise and happened to look back in the mirror when I got on the binders. I was smokin' like crazy. Thought at first it was the engine, but after other attempts, realized it was brakes smoking. Never heard or seen this before. My first vette btw.... Does type of brake pads do this? I do not feel any drag if I throw it into neutral, and there are no noises.....anyone out there had this occur? Thanks.

You need to find out whats smoking...oil on the calipers would be my best guess. If its brake fluid I;d be real concerned that one day you won;t have ANY brakes to smoke...
Calipers have seals. They can leak all over the pads and high pressures stops mean high temps like flash frying,.. smoke.

Didn't think about brake fluid leaking out. I'll climb under to take a look. Kinda looked like it was coming from the entire width of the car indicating both sides were smoking, but I'll take a look anyway. Thanks.
