If anyone knows how many I need and if there is any difference between front and rear, I can try to figure out what I need to order based on website description.
I can't recall from last time I was under the car. Do I need four U-Joints (2 front, 2 rear) for the half-shafts?
There are at least eight PNs on AutoParts Warehouse. Does anyone have the AC Delco PNs for my car?
thx
Each half shaft has 2 joints and the driveshaft has 2 (if you're doing it too). Total of 6. For my '91 I have 4 of one part number and two of another. I bought borg warner heavy duty U-joints so I don't have the Delco numbers handy. Sorry.
Something else to consider before you step up to the parts counter or place your on-line order...do you want permanently sealed U-joints or the greaseable ones and if greaseable, do you want the zerk fitting at the end of one of the cups or in the centre of the u-joint coming out at an angle? Greaseable can be a bit messy over time, but it's nice to know that there is grease in there. The zerk fitting in the centre of the u-joint can be a pain to get to whereas the zerk fitting on the end of one cap is very convenient. Some will caution that any u-joint that has been drilled to accommodate a grease fitting is weakened...depends how much hp you are putting into it. Spicer brand seem to be a solid choice.
