Sorry if this is redundant, but I can't find the answer I need. I have NO CHOICE but to put a th400 in my 85 corvette. (so theres no use in saying put a different trans in-- from searching the forum that's the most common response I could find).
The splines on the trans are about the same size as the external dimensions of the driveshaft on the vette. So i need a bigger yoke shaft with the right number of splines. There must be a yoke, either press on u-joints or bolt in u-joints that will allow me to run without replacing the driveshaft, no?
What yoke OR what is the u-joint number on the stock driveshaft so that I can better research for a yoke to fit that so this combination will work?

TH400 has 32 splines ; 700R4 has 27 splines
In any case you are up for a new driveshaft because shorty TH400 is 28" long and Vette 700R4 ( or 4+3 / ZF6 ) are nearly 30" long
so your stock DS will be 2" short

so you're saying ANY th400 yoke will fit stock vette ujoints? Or are you saying it will require some "conversion joints" with mixed ends? What would help to know is what's the ujoint on the driveshaft ie 1310 or 1330 or??
Driveshaft length isn't an issue for us. But thanks for pointing it out so others who reference this thread in the future are aware.

Why would I state above that you NEED a TH400 yoke with a 1310 uni if the Vette driveshaft was 1330 series uni?

Given that TH400 yokes are available to suit different size uni's , that would be up to to figure out AFTER you have a TH400 yoke in your hand
the yoke I linked above fits straight on Vette DS
vetteoz, you're right. I didn't see that last line. I'm so used to seeing the last line of a lot of forums as someone's signature that I must be programmed to not pay it much mind. I apologize for my oversight and sincerely thank you for pointing out that link. Very much appreciated. Those pics from the other threads are also very helpful.
