Hi, I'm new to the forum here and corvettes in general. I bought my 87 corvette a few months ago and I'm slowly working to get it on the road. My gauges had the common problem of the lights flickering which caused the gauges to be unreadable at times which I cant have happening while I'm driving. Well I took the old digital gauge out and bought a more standard gauge system from Corvette America. Its the 8 gauge system. I brought it home and started to try installing it and hit a bit of a snag. To instal it I must replace the oil pressure sensor. my problem I've ran into is this, how do I get in where its at to work? I mean I know where its located and everything the problem is there is not much room to work. I can barely get my hands near it let alone get a wrench on it, and when I get the wrench on then comes another snag. There is no room to work the wrench. I have taken the wiper motor off so there is a tiny bit more room for access but still not near enough. I'm not in the position to take the motor out. is there another way? The only thing that really looks realistic to me is possibly buying a shorter wrench in length and working it in there. A smaller wrench would give me more room to work with. Any thoughts?
Ive done the oil pressure senders twice 86,89 by taking off the distributor cap and using a crowsfoot wrench and a "long" 3/8's extension. Not hard with this setup. But if you dont have large crowsfeet, It may be hard to find the size without a tool truck visit. If not pull the distributor as notated above.
