Fuel Pump Problem

Default Fuel Pump Problem
I have an 84 vette and it's been sitting in my garage for a while without being started. I drained the gas tank and added new gas in, replaced to fuel pump and the fuel pump relay switch. Every time I reconnect the negative terminal of the battery, the fuel pump runs continuously and wont shut off. I've read its suppose to for 4 seconds and then shut off. Is the new fuel pump bad? or is it something else. Thanks

The fuel pump sound like it is ok, otherwise it wouldn't run. Somehow your providing 12v to the pump when the ignition is off. Could be the wrong relay.

it was doing the same thing even before I replaced the relay, which was what made me think it was the original relay that was bad but that wasnt the problem since its still running continuously with a new relay.

The ecm feeds 12 volts to the rely to provide power to the pump. Check the fuel pump relay signal out of the ecm and see if it is hot all the time. If so, you ecm is toast.
