SMOKED 'EM  :chevy We want details! What did he say/do?
He was actually pretty cool about it. The first two times he looked almost devastated that his $35,000 honda couldnt smoke my 13 year old vette.......after that he kept saying "that road was too narrow, i was getting sideways and i was afraid i was gonna go off the road." (its his first rwd sports car). I was thinking, "yeah, i wouldnt have that problem or anything since i have 340ft lbs of torque and you have all of like 160.
An S2000 much be driven like you absolutely HATE the car to get the power out of it.
I recall a car magazine making the statement that to even come close to feeling like you had a quick car, you would have to drive it in a way that would make you real friendly with your local service writer.
Well I don't know guys. You may be right about getting him off the line, but I pulled up next to one at about 40 MPH and we both dropped it and he kept up with me door 2 door until about 70 when we had not choice but to slow down (traffic). Then he tried getting around me, just to pass, then we dropped it again and we stayed right along side each other to about 80 (traffic again). I'm sure I would have pulled away from him around 90 or 100,
I was impressed, the car may only have 240 HP but it only weighs 2800 lbs.
I STILL thought it was funny that my '92 worth about half his car, with a lot more room inside, it's not often I can say that, can keep up with him. :yesnod:
I was on my way to an autocross one morning in my 1998 Camaro SS (previous car. Mods : Flowmaster cat-back and Whisper Lid). I pulled up next to a ~19 yr old in a yellow S2000. I thought nothing or it. The light turned green and he took off like crazy. I let him go, since he'd gotten a good jump and I didn't care (It is only a Honda...) I got up next to him at 65 once we got out of the city limits and we did a rool on to about 95. Even start, and I KILLED him!
There was a ~exit onto another highway comien up. I noticed he was still coming (I'd already given him the Hazard lights) :) so I got on it a little and took the exit at about 105 (the fastest I've ever taken that curve). I was in the left (outside) lane and he in the inside. HE must have been doing about 115-120 when he got up next to me trying to pass when he lost control and oversteered! He tred to correct and veered off into the inside ditch (luckily not the outside, since I was right next to him at this point). He hit a big **** light pole (not too hard, not head on or anything) and spun to a stop. he SHREDDED one of his wheels and skidded to a stop on the suspension and fender.
I stopped and backed up to where he was. He got out and the first thing he said was "poopie, my dad is gonna KILL me!" haha. I hung around for a few minutes (15?), he had a cell phone, so he made some calls and tried to get out of there. Some friends of mine that stopped by after I had left (like 10 people on their way to the auto-X stopped) but a cop showed up before the tow truck. He was cited for knocking down the light pole I think. heh.
So now I'm known as the guy who makes S2000s spin (I never touched him, swear) :blueangel:
