C4 Tech/Performance L98 Corvette and LT1 Corvette Technical Info, Internal Engine, External Engine

need some assistance

Default need some assistance

hi folks.i just picked up a turbocharged 90 l98 but have a problem.the wiring harness was burnt.some "hack"put it back together.i straightened it out BUT.have no ecm serial data.ccm code 41 and a dead ecm.ok here is the prob.i know the chip in it is custom tuned(it's a moates chip)but it too is dead.can someone burn me a chip with the right info for this setup?thanks in advance for a reply

Where are you located? If it's just a matter of reading the old chip, that's doable, but what will that buy you? Chips don't really "die". Sounds like you're just looking for a tuner?

mike,not really.my issue is if the ecm wont communicate then the issue becomes what was on that chip to begin with?obviously a stock one isn't gonna do right by this set up and i am not looking to invest a ton in this car.i bought it to sell.i got a stock 91 and a tuned port 68 firebird.wifey says too many toys

The chip is separate from the ECM and can be read. But you'll need a new ECM if it's bad anyway, just put the old chip in the new ECM and move on. Still trying to figure out why this is in the forsale/wanted section...

mike i know they are separate,ive been an ase tech for 30 plus years.to clarify the ecm AND chip are dead.new ecm with the modded chip still problem.all power and grounds check out.tps sweep, ect, iat, map reading input all good .no serial data ccm code 41,no codes when grounding aldl

If you want me to try and read the chip, I can. I've seen a couple Moates adapters go bad. Otherwise I think you're in for a retune as no one will have an exact combo as yours to have a tune to copy.

hi mike.thanks for that offer.i may take you up on that i will get back on the car during the week then let you know.you can contact me if you want at kiroshi1@yahoo.com.my son lives and works in wilmington but i do not get there often .i live about 65 miles up near exit 5 on the njtp.again thanks for the offer.i am not a turbo /tuner guy but this deal i couldn't pass on and just want to get it right then resell so i am not looking to invest tons in tuning etc.just enough to get it right
