For the most part just lightens your wallet. I have one (bought used) because I like how it cleans up the engine compartment. It also makes it much easier to set the timing as you can see the timing tab much easier.
So what you're saying is that if I'm getting it purely for performance, then I probably won't be satified with the results. Now if I really wanted to get some power, I'd tear my good ole L98 down like you did and go ***** to the wall. By the way, great job!!!!!! :seeya
Zad54,
Spend the money, and clean up your engine compartment.
Do it now, before you make the additional modifications you mentioned, and you just might feel a seat of the pants difference.
Once you make the mods, chances are you will not be able to feel it.
I just added this Air Pump Eliminator Modification, about 2 months ago, and I couldn't tell a difference.
However, I have many of the mods to my engine that you wish to do in the future. Like the other members before me...I do like the way it 'cleans up' the compartment.
I put a kit in my ride in November. I have no dyno or track b4/after results, but every little bit helps. It does give you tons more room especially after removing the air box(smog pump, maybe) thingy.
I took me about 4 hours to do it. But I work slow.
I live in PA and we have yearly inspections. Will removing the AIR pump mess up anything I need to pass inspection? What does the AIR pump do anyway? :yesnod:
Thanks for the advice UDLUV12, but I'm not sure if I'm going to do all those mods now. For that money and selling my car I could have a nice ZR-1. But you know where that goes, I'd just want to modify that too. Who knows, this tax refund is burning my pocket and if another mustang passes me I might just have to do something.
It also makes things a wee bit quieter because the air pump does make some noise. It also saves your air pump for when you need it...smog test...resale...
I'm thinking of one of these also. Not for performance but for noise. My air pump is really noisy. Its a rebuilt unit I put on last spring. The instructions said that it will be noisy for a while until it breaks in but this is
Does anyone have pictures of what the eliminator kit looks like installed?
Jason
Has someone diameter or schematic that eliminator?
Paying 160 $ for one simple piece of steel (aluminum) and for one pulley on ball bearing it is simple thefting!!!!
Jerry
I spent the $160 (actually $156 shipped to my door) and like it. I'd do it again. I actually dynoed mine and got maybe a 2hp gain. The air pump doesnt rquire alot of hp to spin up. It does however remove about 20-25 lbs from the front end of the car as well as clean it up. It makes it easier to access spark plugs, thermostat, bottom of the throttle body, timing marks etc etc. If people will pay $40 or better for the air foil or $70 for a K&N filter then pay the $160 for this unit.
Is there someone interested with done that easy piece of metal at home?
$160 for that it is nonsense
I thinking about use original AIR pump pulley
