Anyone else have this problem? Both my side mirrors rattle to all hell. Is there a fix for this? I figure it just spring on the inner part of the mirror has crapped out. Bueller? Bueller?
I had this happen to the driver side mirror. The problem with mine was that one of the three screws that hold it in place had backed out. If you rotate the mirror all the way one way, you will see that it is held in place by some "ball and socket" joints. If you "pop" those out, you can get to the screws. Of course your problem could be that one of the "ball and socket" joints may have worked loose. If so just push it back in place.
same here and this is the second mirror on the drivers side. mine will actually point toward the sky after i launch at the track sometimes. When in the right lane, i'll go to look for my opponent (when being chased) and see nothing.
If you "pop" those out, you can get to the screws.
:yesnod:
I took my door apart thinking I had to take the mirror off to tighten them. Didn't help. I finally just ripped the mirror out of the housing, tightened the screws and popped it back in. Been rattle free ever since. :D

How do you just "rip" the mirror out of the housing? Just litterally grab of the sum-b*tch and yank till there is no tommorow?
Mine was vibrating like you describe then the glass fell out. It was held by the defroster wires so no damage. It had dried up, black adhesive that was supposed to be holding it in. I put some black silicone on it in a few spots and stuck it on with tape to dry. Been OK for a few thousand miles - no more vibes.
My passenger side mirror buzzes when I'm idling at a stop.
The mirrored piece itself is glass with a plastic surround, and it's held to the adjuster mechanism by snapping it over a metal cross, that also snaps into the adjuster mechanism.
When I say 'snap', I'm not talking about an easy pop. It's on there very well.
You can grip the mirror and pop it loose, but you have to be extremely patient and careful, or you will be ordering a new piece of glass after you crack the old piece.
The cross is right behind the center of the glass. A stiff, flat piece of metal that can be inserted between the mirror and the housing at the top center or bottom center might be used as a gentle pry bar. Again, you can easily crack the glass. You can also damage the paint on your mirror housing.
Snapping the mirror back in when you're done also is no piece of cake. It takes a lot of pressure, and again, you can crack the glass.
