RockAuto usually has an OEM choice along with several others that are sometimes lower priced.

There used to be a guy on here (Jeff Koop) and another guy (Jason ?) who worked for GM dealerships. They offered decent prices to forum members and had reasonable shipping prices. Does anybody know of anyone like this?

Gene Culley of GMpartshouse is a supporting vendor and there is also Ken Fichtner (owner of Ken Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, MT) who has his own section in the Professional News, Articles, and Tips section of the Forum.

OK I checked GMpartshouse web page and they are higher then MSRP plus they charge shipping. Heck my local chevy dealer was cheaper and they are in stock. FWIW I am looking for LS1 lifters

Will

Will,

I checked them as well and they do offer discounts but still I could get the lifters from jegs for the best price. BTW, I think that is the last thing I need before you assemble the motor.

Price is good but shipping is out of this world. I tried telling my local dealer about their price, but they really dont care.

youre better off steering clear of gmpartsdirect - at least on cars of our vintage.

Cliff notes on what they did to me:

They substituted a remanufactured 'optispark' distributor, of a different p/n, in place of the 1104032 part number optispark I ordered. They did this without my authorization and refused to take it back. This remanufactured optispark had a broken optical sensor and worked for about 2 minutes in my car. They still refused to take it back or do anything claiming I installed it.

They are flat out ****s in my book.

I've used rock auto for awhile now. So far, I have ordered several parts for the following cars.
1992 Audi 80 (euro)
1989 Mini Classic
1991 Corvette
2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi
2005 BMW 325i

I have NEVER had a problem AT ALL with rock auto. They are basically like the amazon.com of auto parts. A lot of it comes from other suppliers, but there are multiple options so you can pick everything from the cheapest one to better-than-OEM spec parts.

Of course, the site sponsors are also great choices! I always stay as far away from dealerships as possible.

Kevin,
I will keep you in mind on my next order. I already ordered from Jegs this time. But FWIW their prices were a little better then yours. The lifters (12499225) were $121.99 and $12.99 handling with free shipping. Yours was $125.00 and $14.95 shipping. About $5.00 difference.

To ROCK with great pricing would always be better, lol......

and damn this 502 got up there quick... so saving what i can is important.. I have found GmPerformanceMotor.com has some fairly good pricing, and not that far off from gmpd, but they say best price match guarantee, so im gonna give them a shout in morning, and if they match gmpd and have the parts in stock, then its a instant order...

Rockauto.com, had a crazy good price on the distributor, so they get that one, and advanceautoparts.com had a good price on the headers, AND with a promo code found online, you get a additional 20% off.. So theres the header purchase.. so leaves the GM performance parts.. and Richmond.
