Auto trans question!
there is some sort of protection for engine blow.
I've noticed that when I hit WOT when in 1st engine stops.
Is there any way to disable this???
If I push WOT when shifter is in D or 2 car starts normally
and pulls hard, but if I do the same when in 1st engine stops pulling ( not even close to rev limit ) then if I let go of accelerator a little bit it starts pulling again.
I'm asking this because sometimes trans shifts into 2nd gear sooner then I would like it to.
I do that all the time and never had a problem.
Wodner if you might have an intake manifold leak
or something ?
The VSS (vehicle speed sensor) signal goes to the computer so you can have all the dash information displayed correctly, as well as have good engine running during coast-down (mainly near-idle) situations.
The stock 'rev' limiter isn't even really set at anything. For your year, the 'chip' in the car has no effective rev limiter since it is factory default fuel cut-off at 10031 RPM and back on again at 9544 RPM. Also, the speed limiter is set at 255 fuel cutoff, 254 fuel re-enable. Those are the only points in the calibration that would affect fuel-cutoff, which is about the only thing that could limit pulling in one gear versus another.
One of 2 things--either you are feeling what happens when you have a TPI setup that can't breathe well above 4800RPM OR the fact that you are taking your foot off the gas and going into coast-down mode actually brings you closer to what your air/fuel ratio should be.
If it was the latter, dyno tuning would likely help out. First gear, you are under a lot of load. Something like this could possibly be a fuel filter or even an ignition system that needs a tuneup.
If anyone sees this as false information, please let me know. I really don't think that there is any factory-designed limitation built into the C4 in 1st gear though. The only things I see are the lack of breathing ability and/or fuel supply. GM had the fuel supply OK...they just needed to work on the breathing ability ;) -Matt-

It happens at 1000 rpm when I push pedal and it happens at 3000 rpm.
It's allways the same.
Car acts like the ignition key was turned off and the when I let go off acelerator pedal it starts working normal again.
