having just installed a new sc on my 85 I was surprised by the amount the belt streched after a few miles, when first put on it was so tight all the play in the tention pulley was gone , now after 30 miles I have over half of the play in the tention pulley is beening used.............funny in talking to the ati techs that was one of their questions......was I having anybelt slippage? I said I didn't have a booster gadge so I couldn't tell and they said to look for belt dust under the sc unit.......the belt suppied for procharger was a gates brand.
Krivera........how many turns do you have your fmu screw turned out? I know you have a differrant set up then I do but it came full rich and I'm at 4500 ft
thanks leadfoot
P.S. still working the the high temp problem from the intercooler install
I'm running a Vortech V1 running 8 pounds of boost... with the slip I'm getting a little over 6. When I put my belt on I virtually have to pry it over the pulley. After a fewmiles it loosens up a bit. For the pricce we pay for theese things you would think they could come up with something better. Ihave 7 rib pulleys and can never find a belt unless I buy an 8 rib belt and cut it down ... go figure...
So to answer your question, yes I have seen all over the web where the belts do slip... I reverted to a 6 rib ona 7 rib pullly running a goodyear gaterback belt ( I think thats what they call it)and itseems to be worrking very well. I found that the more imacculate you keep the pullys the better, any antifreeze or oil resude really plays havoac on the grp... hope this helps...
Yea I usually don't share this info, but since its for a Corvette. There is a chemical called track bite that is used for tires at the drag strip, spray it on the belt and you will be surprised.
This guy! i like how he gets down keeping the secerts! Yeah i was thinking of Track Bite we would use it at the street races and tell people it was water  But ok i will try that out and see what happens i also heard a guy that ruffed his pully up with some light sand paper and that helped but i am not about to mess up my pully then have to buy a new one! :cry But as for the FMU question mine is all the way turned clock wise. I am having trouble with Fuel pressure and such but under boost it only goes to 45 psi but i think my fuel filter is clogged (stock fuel filter 98K miles go figure) So that is my next plan is to change the fuel filter and get it running with 45 psi at idle and under boost 50 psi and get it dyno with track bite on the belt! So i will try that and see if it helps!
on the fmu......ati sends them full rich which is all the way in clockwise......dorian who is the only one I've talked (at ati ) to who seens to know what he is talking about said first you need to dyno it to dial it in but usualy they turn it out about 2 to 2.5 turns to lean it out to 21.1-12.5 to 1 air gas mix and it should have 65 lbs of pressure. He also said c4's with superchargers are rear....they don't see very many of them.....I guess that was is disqualifier in case he gave me the wrong info.....anyway I tried to get names of shops dialing in c4's but never got a return call........thus my question to you ............I don't want to put it on the edge, but if someone out there knows what I'm talking about please inlighten me.............and yes I'm going to dyno it but were I live the shops don't evern know what a dyno is............thanks leadfoot
I didn't have much luck with the FMU from vortech so I installed the Carroll supercharger Superpumper II .
It modulates the accessory fuel pump in relation to the amount of boost you are pulling. you can set your fuel pressure at a specific RPM. It makes setting the AFR extremely easy.
It has a solonoid that blocks the return hose to the tank to allow for the increase in back pressure.
I would say contact Jason @ http://www.goldenwestperformance.com he is really good at explaining and tuning the cars. Also i ran my full clock wise then leaned it out a little at a time (turning counter clockwise) i would say 12:1 air to fuel is just right i was a little on the rich side 11:1. Also under full boost your fuel pressure should go up but i am having troubles with that right now i think i have a clogged fuel filter or something. but it should go to about 60psi or so depending on what size injectors you have.
Had major belt slippage with my P600B. I found the Dayco Poly Cog to work the best for me. I use to 60923 and had to drop the bolt out of the alternator to get it on. It would run for a long time as long as I did'nt turn more than 6 grand. What is the step up ratio on your D1? Is it the self contained unit. ATI is telling me that I will get 12lbs of boost no problem with this 4:10 ratio D1/SC. Am I being misled?
D-1SC nice!!!! mine is not the SC and i want the SC it has some advantages over mine...but yeah i can go 12psi no problem with my D-1 i have a 10lbs pully now and my first gear it goes to 12 psi (3:73 Gears) then after that my belt starts to slip and i lose boost as i go threw gears... but i am happy with it and you know chargers are alot of fun!
