Default Upgrading the fuel level sensor?

So I ran my car down more than I wanted to tonight... or at least i THOUGHT I did. I had no bars and the check gauges light was on. I went to fill up and it only took 17.2 gallons. I know these are 20 gallon tanks so what gives? Is there any way to put a better sensor in the tank? It annoys the hell outa me not to have an accurate sensor/range calculator. Thanks guys!

Designed to save the embarrassment of a Vette owner running out of gas
You fill up before you do actually run out of gas

you might try an old favorite

Thanks! I'll look through it! I just like accuracy with those things i can't help it :/ You are right though it's a nice safety measure.

You can bend the float arm to calibrate your fuel level sender. I have never seen an article on how to do this, so you're on your own there.

I would probably have it done by a professional. This is my baby and daily driver haha, so I don't wanna mess anything up. I just want it to be more accurate. When I hit reserve I want to actually be ON reserve not have like 4+ gallons left. Thanks!

they say the bladder inside can go bad throwing things off

Just stick a new one in....dont want to run any car down low with an electric pump anyway all it does is heat it up and shorten its life.
Even late model GM senders are like that once they are around 1/3 tank or less they drop quick. So gas up.
