Doug Nash 4+3 question
I went through my old '88 Consumer Guide to the Corvette by Richard Langworth and found something interesting...
the top speed on the Vette is drastically higher with the OD than without...I would think the OD would only help w/fuel economy and/or torque multiplication off the line--as its a 4th gear and thus helping supplement the normal 3 gears in a THM/4L60 application.
OR am I reading this wrong? josh
page 256. i'd bet most vette enthusiasts and C4 owners have this--in the '80s it was $40 or so when it came out--a then-new encyclopedia of the Vette's history w/interviews with Zora and Dave Mac.

top speed (mph) 135, 150 overdrive (BUT IT DOES NOT EXPLAIN whether or not it's a fxn of the 4+3)...No way a regular Vette of '87 vintage is 135mph, as most of them were above 140 even in '84--and would only be faster.
fuel consumption 16-18.
