Just checked the shipping receipt for one I purchased out of a 90 ZR1, total weight was 285, keep in mind that includes the shipping pallet, hope that helps.
You are telling me that the steel housings, axle tubes, axles themselves, weighed less than a bunch of aluminum components?
Yup , Mine was also narrowed 10inches , aluminum spool, gun drilled axles, and chromemoly axle tubes ... I was able to lift the thing off the bed of my truck and to my garage floor all by myself .. try doing that with an IRS

yessss , I could've saved more weight if i went with a Fab 9 with an aluminum center section like i 1st had planned , I still punch myself in the face for listening to my friend who talked me into a 12 bolt so i can class race the car.. which i never do or ever will , he even gave me the speech of how a 9inch eats up more HP
I like the 9", because the entire case can be removed to work on it.
The solid axle completed my coil-over conversion as well. I'm not a fan of the mono-leaf spring. It has its advantages & disadvantages like all suspension systems.
Anyway, even with the 12-bolt, you are lighter, & have a solid axle.
