Default Tiny ball bearing

Hey, when I tore an LT-1 motor apart a couple years ago, I think I remember a tiny ball bearing being present somewhere in the bottom end, maybe something to do with the oil pump passages ? I finally have time to get back to that block now and put the motor together. I don't think I can find that little steel ball ( 3 mm diameter or so ?), is it easy to order one somewhere ?

Check your rocker arms although after thinking, those are needle bearings.

Someone else posted about this awhile back had something to do with the oiling systme I believe. LT1 specific. Check ball or something to that effect

Bet Will knows.

The ball blocks the oil passage. Removal is required if you wish to thoroughly clean accumulated debris and possible contamination from the block before rebuilding. It's pressed into the passage under the rear main cap on the driver's side.

How to Rebuild Small-Block Chevy LT1/LT4 Engines by Mike Mavrigian is an excellent resource and has pictures of the ball in question. It's on amazon for ~$20.

Thanks 007. I recall that ball fell into my hand, just forget wherefrom it came. I'll get the book. Have a good afternoon.
