Default Need a little help...

My 96 Lt4 Collector has a check engine light on. I judt had it on a 4 hour drive last week wih no issues until the other day when the light came on. Scanned it and it says its P0152. Here is what it says...

Def-Ho2S21 circuit condition (heated oxygen sensor bank aa2 sensor 1)

Explanation-The powertrain control module uses the oxygen sensor to calculate the A/F Ratio in the exhaust.

Prob Cause-
1-O2 Sensor Defective
2-Fuel System running very rich or very lean-check other codes first
3-Engine misfore condition-repair
4-Fuel pressure very high or low0fuel pump or pressure regulator

I thought it may be an o2 Sensor because I doubt it has been changed in a while. The car still seems to run just fine and still picks up really fast. If the A/C is on when starting it idles really low and rough at first but clears up fast. Doesn't seem to be using anymore fuel either. The code comes on and off occasionally. Any info would be great.

Probably the sensor. You have a 16 year old car and things deteriorate and go bad.

Well here is a little update. I changed the sensor and I still have the code. Doesn't run any different still. If I have a Rich (high voltage) condition on only bank 2 my thought are possibly an injector on pass side. Looked over all the wires and plugs are great so I know its got pleny of spark.

Verify that you changed the correct O2 sensor (there are 4 of them) - the one indicated by the code is the pre-cat sensor on the passenger side. If this is correct, then I would look for a wiring/connector issue next.
Also, did you clear the code after changing the sensor - either with a scan tool or by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes?

Yeah I used a scanner and cleared the code and the code was bank 2 sensor 1 so I changed the pass side pre-cat sensor. I'm going to look it over and check out the wiring. I'm still getting great mileage and the code comes on and of. Sometimes it is on for a few days and I'll start it up and its off and stays off all day.

So we drove out to the Dallas Dragstrip in Crandle and ran the 1/4 during the test and tune. Drove 470 miles just that night going there, racing and going home. The light went off shortly after getting on the highway and stayed off all night even through the racing and came on pulling onto my road 470 miles later. Weird. It ran fine the whole way and through all 16 passes I made. Any help????
