that was installing new ones. When he was drilling out the rivets, the drill bit caught and went right through his door. I think he was really pissed.

Window sweep install
I have a new set of window sweeps (outer window weather strip or whatever you want to call it) and I'm having a tough time getting the new back on. I have only taken the passenger side off off and I was a pain to do so. Now I'm trying to get the clips to pop into the holes, but it doesn't seem to work very well. The first clip on either side will go in just fine and hold tight, but then top of the window gets in the way of applying pressure to the back side of the strip while pressing down. Does anyone have any tips on doing this? I have seen people talk about how easy or hard the thought it was, but not much that gave any suggestions on how to make it happen. Any info would be awesome.

If you unbolt the window from the regulator you can then drop the window down in the door panel.
It will be ineresting to hear how this works out as I too need to do the sweeps in my '88 this summer.

I also have to do mine soon and all the other weather stripping but the windows are the only ones I don't know how to do. Maybe once you finish you can make a guide for everyone

I did mine without removing the window regulator bolts. Once the door panel is off, and you've drilled out the rivets and removed the original outer sweep, it's really just a matter of trial and error to get everything lined up properly. It does take a little finesse, and you may need to remove and reposition a few times to get it just right before riveting it in place.

I just did mine a couple weeks ago. I started at one end and worked my way down, because i couldn't get it to go right with both ends in first. Can't remeber if I started in the front or back. I line it up and banged the top, each time it popped right in.

Also just did mine, and yes, it was a PITA! I did mine without removing the door panels and it made the job tougher but did save a lot of time. As for re-installing the new ones, as mentioned above, just take your time and "work" them in. I found that raising and lowering the window a few inches helped keep pressure on the molding and they finally popped into place. Also had to "tweak" the locking tab on the clips to get a couple to snap in.

One side is done. It was real easy when I used the mallet. Just make sure the clips are lined up/started, then some light smacks. All in place, of course like anything cars, fix something then something else messes up, but that is another thread.

I'm going through the same thing right now but the clips on the new ones I ordered are completely different from the ones that were on the car. The ones that were on the car look like they pop into holes in the door. The new ones have clips that look like they slide into a lip or something that my car does not have. My vette is an early 1984 model.
